Pep Boys expands footprint in So-Cal

PHILADELPHIA — Leading automotive aftermarket service and retail chain the Pep Boys has acquired 17 discount tire centers in Southern California from AKH Company, Inc.

The tire centers are located throughout the greater Los Angeles market, from Bakersfield to Orange County. They will re-open on September 12 under the Pep Boys banner and provide full-service vehicle maintenance and repair, including brand-name and private-label replacement tires.

“We are excited to add these convenient service locations for customers and welcome new associates to the Pep Boys family,” said Pep Boys President and CEO Mike Odell. “We aim to grow in the neighborhoods where our customers live and work through the acquisition and development of service and tire centers.”

“With this acquisition, 75 percent of Los Angeles-area residents live within three miles of a Pep Boys location,” noted Joe Cirelli, SVP for business development. “Now we have nearly 150 locations in California, where we have served customers since 1933.”

Pep Boys has more than 750 locations nationwide.

“These service and tires centers will give us more opportunities to deliver exceptional customer experiences,” said Odell. “Now we have even more convenient locations to help customers get quality tires and full-service maintenance and repair, all at a great value.”
