Sam’s Club launches service program for consumer electronics

Sam’s Club worked with SquareTrade, a leading protection plan provider, to launch a new program that expands members’ technology and electronics services and support, and helps reduce the cost of owning the latest technology.

From smartphones and tablets to cameras and televisions, Sam’s Club membership now includes exclusive warranty services available in clubs and at SamsClub.com that aim to simplify the technology purchasing, protection and upgrade experience.

With the new service, any Sam’s Club member who purchases a television worth $500 or more can get a $99 four-year SquareTrade protection plan that includes delivery, setup, haul-away and recycling of their old TV. Exclusive to Sam’s Club, the protection plan also offers a guaranteed buyback program that allows Sam’s Club members to trade in their TV within six months of purchase and receive up to half of its price back on a Sam's Club gift card.

Sam’s Club and SamsClub.com also offer SquareTrade protection plans to members on smartphones and all other electronics. Items such as printers, gaming consoles, media players, and even headphones and coffee machines are now covered under the new SquareTrade protection plans offered at Sam’s Club.

“We designed this program to make it easy and cost effective for members to buy their phones and electronics at Sam’s Club,” said Dawn von Bechmann, SVP for technology at Sam’s Club. “Electronics are an investment, and with our competitive new protection plans our members will save money because they won’t have to make a new purchase if an accident happens. We also understand that services throughout the lifecycle of their purchases are just as important as the product itself, and that’s why our protection plans also include valuable services like delivery, take away and technical assistance.”

In addition to SquareTrade’s extended manufacturer coverage on all devices, the new Sam’s Club program includes:

  • Accidental damage protection: Damage to devices like smartphones, tablets, computers and cameras from drops, spills and other increasingly common accidents is fully covered.
  • 24/7 tech support: The Sam’s Club Tech Experts program, provided through Alorica, is available for all products.
  • Guaranteed buyback up to 24 months after purchase: Available on smartphones, tablets, televisions and computers.
  • Delivery and setup: Included on television plans for TVs purchased at $500 or more.
